According to ACM, people unconsciously agree to the purchase of expensive home batteries

The Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) has warned about a telephone salesperson called Opslagplan , who unknowingly tricks people into signing a purchase agreement for a home battery. Anyone who subsequently tries to cancel the purchase faces high costs of thousands of euros.

Last June, the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) issued a general warning about telephone salespeople selling home batteries. Several companies are circulating, pressuring consumers to digitally sign a supposedly non-binding quote. Recently, a striking number of reports have been received about Opslagplan, prompting the ACM to issue a specific warning about this company.

According to reports, Opslagplan is asking people to sign a digital signature over the phone for a quote or consultation. This later turns out to be a binding purchase agreement for a home battery costing between €15,000 and €20,000 . In case of cancellation, the company demands cancellation fees of thousands of euros.

ACM emphasizes that consumers can cancel a telephone or door-to-door sales contract free of charge and without reason within fourteen days . Anyone who has been misled can have the contract terminated. The watchdog also advises consumers to hang up immediately on unsolicited sales calls about home batteries.
